Dr. George Ochiri is a seasoned cooperative sector leader, governance expert, and technical strategist with over 20 years of experience in SACCO leadership, systems oversight, and institutional transformation. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Harambee DT SACCO Society Limited, one of Kenya’s largest and most sophisticated SACCOs, with an asset base exceeding KES 38.5 billion.

Dr. Ochiri has led a comprehensive turnaround and growth strategy that restored Harambee DT SACCO’s market leadership, strengthened governance and risk management frameworks, and positioned the institution for national expansion and diaspora engagement. His leadership has entrenched a culture of operational discipline, innovation, and long-term sustainability.

Previously, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Safaricom SACCO currently Qona SACCO, bringing with him extensive experience in executive management, financial oversight, procurement, and supply chain optimization—critical competencies for large-scale shared services and infrastructure initiatives.

Dr. Ochiri holds a PhD in Supply Chain Management and a Master’s Degree in Procurement and Logistics from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Studies and Sociology from Kenyatta University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), a member of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM), and a Certified Management Coach from Strathmore University.

He actively contributes to academia and public service as a Council Member at Rongo University, an adjunct faculty member at Strathmore University, a part-time lecturer at JKUAT, and a board member at the Kenya Fisheries Service. In recognition of his leadership excellence, he was awarded CEO of the Year – Champions of Governance Awards (2016).

As Chairperson of the Technical Advisory Council, Dr. Ochiri provides strong technical stewardship, governance rigor, and systems-thinking leadership to SCK. His expertise is central to the design, oversight, and rollout of secure, scalable, and compliant shared services platforms, including core banking, payments, liquidity and settlement systems. He ensures that SCK’s infrastructure offerings meet the highest standards of governance, risk management, interoperability, and regulatory alignment, reinforcing SCK’s role as a trusted sector-wide utility.
