Mr. Joel Mungai Gachari is a distinguished finance professional and seasoned cooperative sector leader with extensive experience in financial management, corporate governance, strategic investments, and cooperative development. He has built a strong reputation in Kenya's financial services and SACCO sectors through his leadership in some of the country's most influential cooperative and financial institutions.

A Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Mr. Gachari also holds Advanced Development Education (ADE) and Credit Union Development Education (CUDE) qualifications, underscoring his commitment to cooperative excellence and sustainable financial sector growth.

Mr. Gachari previously served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mwalimu National SACCO, where he provided strategic leadership that strengthened the institution's financial stability, governance framework, and long-term growth agenda. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in overseeing key strategic initiatives and investment decisions, including the successful transition of assets from Spire Bank to Equity Bank Kenya.

His leadership experience extends to the national cooperative movement, having served on the Board of Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives (KUSCCO), where he contributed to policy direction, sector advocacy, and strengthening the cooperative financial ecosystem. He has also served as a Director of Equatorial Commercial Bank, bringing valuable cooperative governance and financial sector expertise to the banking industry.

In addition, Mr. Gachari has served in senior finance and accounting roles within the Teachers Service Commission, where he gained extensive experience in public financial management and institutional governance.

At SACCO Central Kenya (SCK), Mr. Gachari brings a wealth of experience in cooperative governance, financial stewardship, strategic planning, investment management, and institutional transformation. His deep understanding of the SACCO movement and the broader financial services sector continues to provide valuable guidance in advancing SCK's mission of strengthening and modernizing Kenya's cooperative financial ecosystem.
