Dr. James Kimani Mbui is a seasoned cooperative sector executive with over 30 years' experience in SACCO management, enterprise operations, and institutional growth. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Amica Sacco Limited, a position he has held since 2014.

Under his leadership, Amica Sacco has undergone a significant turnaround and expansion, attaining Tier-1 status, enhancing governance structures, modernising systems, and expanding geographical reach. The Sacco has recorded sustained growth in assets, revenue, member deposits, and digital service adoption, positioning it as a resilient and competitive financial cooperative.

Dr. Mbui holds a Bachelor’s degree in Co-operative Management, a Master of Business Administration (Marketing option) and an Honorary Doctorate in Leadership and Management. His career spans senior executive roles across leading SACCOs in Kenya, where he has consistently focused on operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and member-centric service delivery.

As Chairperson of the Business Operations Advisory Council, Dr. Mbui brings deep practical insight into SACCO business models, shared services adoption, revenue diversification, and institutional scaling. His expertise is instrumental in guiding SCK’s commercial strategy, ensuring that shared services and infrastructure solutions are market-responsive, financially viable, and aligned to the real operational needs of member SACCOs. He plays a key role in shaping SCK's value proposition to drive adoption, sustainability, and long-term sector impact.
